Forward is reverse and reverse is forward I need help

replace my water pump and removed my prop , put thing back together what did I miss 1992 mercury 50 hp outboard .I have idea but want input before starting thanks

Common problem.----Top of the page is the tutorial under ----SHIFTSHAFT SETUP----Start with removing the lower unit again.----You have to make sure that both lower and control box are the same just before sliding the works together !!

I was thinking shift shaft rotation and did not mean to question anyones knowledge or skills . thanks for your input

Hey forward is forward and reverse is reverse back to normal thanks for rthe help also adjusted lever
