I took the boat out early this morning leery of the weather forecast. Snagged a couple of bluefish and Tog and then headed back early because the wind was really kicking up some chop in the bay.
Back at the house I give my rig a fresh water washdown, and then put the muffs on the motor for a flush, which I usually do for about 10-15 minutes. While doing the engine flush, I decide its time for a cocktail because my fishing got cut short by the typical weekend weather.
Look in the bar....I'll have a highball of the French Cognac. Take it with me into the garage, taking a few sips, then finish up washing the boat and a few other things.
When I come back for another sip, damned if that cognac isn't full of those pissy little gnats/fruit flies that have been bugging me since I pulled up the garden plants. Since the winter is arriving here a bit early and we had to pick the remaining tomatos green, and ripen them in a paper lined box in the garage, I (much to my wife Chere's question) pour the remaining French Cogncrap into a pan and set it next to the tomatos.
Two hours later......Wala! No more fruit flies!
Oh, by the way, a nice highball of Jack Daniels was excellent. Its wonderful when something as simple and stupid as this gets you back to your roots.
Now I know why those two talking jerks don't use deoderant!

Careful that Jack Daniels can get you back further than your roots.
-------------------------------------------
There are old sailors and bold sailors but,
there are no old bold sailors.
