I found out that my "new to me" 5.0 M/C has a remote oil change hose that fits through the hull to drain the oil. It seems to be leaking at the point where the fitting goes into the oil pan. So........I thought I could just snug and tighten it up, but it keeps spining, and spining and wont tighten, there also seems to be a spring loaded tab that you can push in, but I dont want to mess it up. The boat is in the water and can not be taken out. I would be happy to remove the remote hose, and put in a oil pan plug if I'm able to.

Any help will be truly appreciated!!
Thanks Rick

Ayuh,... There's 4 or 5qts. of oil behind that fitting,... You're in abit of a pickle...

My Guess is, the fitting, or worse, the pan threads are stripped...

In both the long, 'n short run of things,... I'd fix/ replace what's there,...

The hose thingy ain't a Bad thing to have, at All...
Matter of fact, right now it can Help immensely...

Being docked, pull the hose up, 'n attach a pump to pump the oil out,...
Then unscrew the oil pan fitting for inspection of the threads,...

Hopefully, it'll be the hose fitting, I'd replace it, not just using a steel plug...(if it were the steel plug now, you'd have more spillage then you will anyways)

If you find it's the oil pan threads,... The real Fix involves pullin' the motor...
Otherwise, there's a few ways to bubblegum it...

If memory serves, I've seen some that are banjo bolt style. What you are actually spinning? At the very least, There is a fitting that will screw into the pan, and the hose will then screw into the fitting.
