First off, boat is a:
2007 Monterey 194FS
5.0 GXI Volvo SX

So I noticed an oil skim on the water at the rear of my boat this evening and sure enough when I pulled the boat out of the water and went to pulled the drain plug I found oil on the bottom of the lower outdrive bracket support. I couldn't look much more into it as a pretty big storm had blown in so sorry for the limited detail here. Anyways, what should I be looking for when I get a chance to take a closer look tomorrow? This is my first Volvo outdrive and have only had this summer so I'm still getting familiar with it.

Is this an SX or SX-A drive? An easy way to tell...the SX-A drive has the trim pump located outside the boat on the transom just starboard of the drive. The original design is a common leak problem. Check for leaks, and check the trim up/down functionality.

As for gear oil, it could be leaking from behind the propeller. Trimming down and taking a look there will help determine.
