Hi sorry if I’m posting in wrong section. I have a 98 four winns fling jet boat that ran great last summer. Brand new VRO fuel pump put in, carbs cleaned, starter installed. Ran fine last summer. Winterized boat in the fall and stored in pole barn.

The boat will start out of water however I noticed a good amount of oil leaking from I believe the exhaust under the jet drive? Video below:

Any help would be greatly appreciated I’ve tried launching the boat twice in the past week and could not get the boat to turn over in the water. Pulled it out of water and boat started right up but a significant amount of oil was leaking after dry starting it for 5 seconds.1DF0DD49-B1E8-479D-9CCC-4233CC7195F4.jpeg

It was winterized in the fall of 2021. Pulled all plugs and replaced with new ones last month. No water is in cylinders. I had the battery fully charged the first time I started it in driveway. I haven’t been successful starting it at the launch. Going to charge battery overnight and try again. Is it normal for oil to ever come out from exhaust before getting it full throttle on the water? It hasn’t been load tested? How do I attempt that?

Oil should not be leaking like that.----Unless it was given a healthy dose of fogging oil.-----Do a compression test on this machine before you spend any beer tokens on it.----Check gear box oil.

We did put fogging oil in when we winterized it. The boat passed compression test. Is it possible the boat needs to run full throttle on the lake (since it’s the first time boat has been in water this year) to blow all the lines out. I put $1700 into the boat last year. The lines all look good just the oil dripping under the jet drive in the rear of boat concerns me. It may have done this last year but I never noticed dripping out of the water. Happy 4th of July!

Yes I did, just can’t figure out why it starts out of water and not in water. Thinking of taking it to the lake starting it and backing it up into water to get it running in water
