Hello all,
I'm new in the world of boat restoration. I'm looking to replace some missing bench seats on a '94 Four Winns Horizons that had been sitting out in the open exposed for years. Specifically one of the front bench seats.

Where do I even start finding something that fits - idle googling didn't find anything promising. Are seat pretty generic and I just need to measure and match?

Appreciate any advice.

With the boat out in the open exposed to the elements for years, I dont think finding the seats will be your most challenging problem for now. There is another thread titled Four Winns 190 cuddy, you will find it on the first two or 3 pages max on this forum. Read my reply to him to get an idea of where you want to start and what need to evaluated. If you have any questions after that, don't ask them on his thread, come back here to your thread and ask away.

make sure you read the DIY links in the third sticky. specifically links 14, 1, 3, 4a, and 4b. if the boat has been sitting exposed, pretty sure that you will be doing come glass work.

Thanks for both of those links - they are very informative. My boat has been out of the water tor it's 6ish years of non-use, and has always been on fresh water.

I honestly hadn't been thinking to hard about structural issues - I was trying to minimize expense until I knew the boat would run.

After 2 weekends of rewiring, replumbing, rebuilding the carbs, and switching to pre-mix, the outboard is running alright. In my work in the hull, I found a leak in the fuel tank, grunge, and lots and lots of spiders. But no obvious rot. I think I will employ the tapping test to see if I can identify any clear signs of decay.

Now I have a whole new set of fears for when I head up to the lake next. Honestly, I'm unsure if I am up to a full restore like the guy with the '95 Sea Ray - just don't have the time. So I'll just have to inspect and cross my fingers.

IF things look structurally sound - then I still need to see where I can scare up replacement seats.

Replacement benches arent likely to be found, ready made, off the shelf.
