Whats the piece of wood on the outside of the transom for?

Made the new plywood transom yet? If so, all 1 piece layers or did you build it the same as SC did, w 2 small 'ears' on the upper corners?

I would say remove the wood off the back and double layer the plywood on the inside. Make two layers with your pattern and glass them together with some CSM and resin.

ALLDODGE battery's would be on the floor, not torqueing on the transom like the motor. Did I misunderstand.

Just a bit of misunderstanding. Your first post was if a Suzuki 115 was to much weight. My comment was your boat allowed up to 140hp motor when originally built. The 140 motor would be the heaviest motor the boat could have at the time it was built. The 1977 2-cycle 140 Evinrude and weighting 325 pounds, and the Suzuki 115 4-stroke weights just under 100 pounds more. I used an example of two more batteries being in the rear, but could also use a large cooler full of beer as the example of the added weight.

So far as your method of putting the two layers together, I think you will be good.

ALLDODGE, Im worried about the transom being able to hold it,not so much the overall weight in the back.im putting batts and fuel tank under center console.
then I will have plenty of room for BEER AND BAIT TANK.

Only my opinion but I don't see an issue. Your rebuilding the transom so it will be better then new. There is more stress put on the transom by the hp of the motor then the weight of the motor. You build the transom solid like I'm sure you will, I don't see an issue. Remove the transom, take some pics and we all can have another look at what your working with.

You already have the motor right?

If you haven't bought it yet maybe hold off until others with more expertise come in and advise. I don't see an issue but I also haven't owned one of you type boats

That just looks like the brown goop that Starcraft used as a sealant at the factory. Get in there and clean it all out and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised to find it's all aluminum and good. I had the same thing in one corner of my stern. Scared me because it looked like a big gap but it was fine once I cleaned everything up. :)

Here are the before and after pix of the situation I had with my Kingfisher. Looked like a bad gap but it wasn't.

Edited to add pix.
