sorry for double post, thought this might be a
good forum also:

a younger guy I do business with in Texas asked
me to help him buy a boat on a shoestring and I
bid for him (mistake) on one I found on E-bay.
he's backed out and now I am the proud owner of
a 17'1984 Monarch bass boat with a 115merc for
$1,000. a decent deal... only problem is, I live
in NY and transport is BIG$, twice the cost of the
boat.
I figure if I can find someone in Texas who wants
a decent boat, I'd give it to them for free IF they would pull the motor and crate it for trucking. even if someone wants to donate it to
a church or charity and take a write off....
if anyone has any other ideas I'd love to hear them.
(haven't told my wife yet) :D :D

Buy a trailer and take a long weekend. Not that a motor is not good w/o a boat but you could have both pieces if you took a trip southwest.

Re: free boat in Texas

thanks Pete,
has a real nice trailer with a spare and everything... don't think I can find the time
to go myself. besides,I already have a nice 16'
bowrider in the driveway.(not a bass boat guy anyways)
the funny thing is the boat and motor look REAL nice and clean. never would have bid otherwise. the motor is worth at least close to what I paid
(I think). otherwise I have to find a driver to
haul it cheap.
I could never sell a "road trip" to my wife
I can hide an extra motor, but not an extra boat.

PS. don't let the price throw you! I can forward
pics.... it's really a nice boat!!! :D

Where in Texas is the boat?

***edit*** sorry I just saw your other post on the location of the boat. Houston is a bit far for me. Although I am closer than NY. If you don't find someone that is closer that can help, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Trp251

If you really don't want it. My suggestion would be to pay the guy for the boat and relist it on e-bay and get what you can for it. Now, do we trust the guy in Texas to give it up to who you may sell it to? Use him as a broker.

Also, explain your situation to the owner, have him relist the boat. If he gets more for it great and if not, pay him the difference.

May sound stupid, only an idea.

Dymo

I can't believe someone doesn't want a free boat!
heck, sell it and put a few bucks in your pocket.
trailer alone is worth something....

Mellow Yellow,

I really was not in the market for another boat and thought for sure someone closer would take you up on this deal. KeltonKrew made two responces to your post; did he not want it? I would be more than happy to try and help a fellow boater out, If I can. E-mail me at:

wlfcrk@brightok.net

I can't make any promisses at this point, but, I'll discuss it and see what I can do.

TRP251

It wouldn't work for what I wanted it to, but I did forward the link to someone I know in the Houston area that may be interested.
