I found a place that has 8000 lbs of fiberglass strands for free. Could these be used in hull, floor, stringer, and transom repair or not. Just wondering if they could be used why not get this free and save a little $. 5I55F75M73K43Lc3Jfc94290255f451f813a5.jpg

Yeah, just about enough hairy PB to do every boat on iboats, ever

Carp, do you have to take all 4 tons?

That's a lot of 'waste'. What are they doing that they produce 4tons of fiberglass strands as waste & are giving it away? Trying to avoid the cost to dispose of it???

You can put me down for 64oz if it helps ya out. Ok Ok, make it 80oz. ;)

I replied to the ad but havent heard anything back yet. That was the questions I asked. Do I have to take all 4tons or can I just get a portion? You know the way craigslist is though, it may have just been a scam to get email addresses. If they let just a portion go and it is in fact free. I do believe i will drive and get a 50 gallon rubber maid trash can or 2 full. I just though of an idea to use it for exhaust pipe packing on motorcycles. That is what is inside of the sport bike "cans" fiberglass fibers. Or may experiment with it like hand laid fiberglass on some tanks I have been working on.

I guess if its Dry glass strands then you could potentially make your own line of PB mix in cans. Label it and sell it off to suppliers.

You would need about 20k lbs. of resin and another 20k lbs of silica .. but if you have the money it might not be a bad investment.

Thats if its not 8000 lbs. WET. If its regular fluff then yea .. if you have a storage place for it and it still has the poly binders in it ( not epoxy shred ).

YD.
