Free picture hosting for Iboats Members

Hey everyone.... I see a lot of posts where people want to post pictures, but don't have a good place to upload them to...<br /><br />I've got a server here with a few gigs of free space... if anyone wants a place to post pictures, send me an email, I'll set you up with a username and pasword so you can ftp in and upload what you want.<br /><br />cheers<br /><br />oh.. ndemge@primary.net

mdemge, that's a fantastic thing you're doing!<br />Ever since I've been hanging-around iboats, I've been looking for them to open a pic host, so we could post a pic of the thingamabob on the framisatat,on the merccroid outbuzzer.<br />or some such...<br />But to no avail. The problems have been in policing it , I think. But this is a great thing you're doing. I now have a web host, but wish you were around about 6 months ago.<br />Thanks for sponsoring this space. You are a true gentleman.

If anyone knows how to make design a webpage where users can upload pics from a website and not have to login via ftp... let me know.. <br /><br />for now I have a general logon made...<br /> ftp://66.136.189.195 <br /><br />username iboats<br />password iboats<br /><br />to view pictures:<br /> http://66.136.189.195/iboats/directoryname/picturename.jpg <br /><br />..I'd prefer that everyone create a directory with your iboats username, and upload pictures there to keep things orgonized.<br /><br />Everyone has Write access, but nobody can delete or change pictures.... <br /><br />if you want your own login... just email me.

...Mr Fitz...<br /><br />Assuming you login to upload your pictures,<br />you will have made a directory and put your picture there...<br /><br />so... if YOU were to put some pictures up.. you'd made a directory called "mrfitz" ...and if your pictures was "boat.jpg"...<br /><br />you would make your link to:<br /><br /> http://66.136.189.195/iboats/mrfitz/boat.jpg

ndemge...I am not familuar with FTP but I try to log on with the iboats and it appears that it goes there but tells me it has timmed out. Then I tried to create a new folder but it also gave ma a simular message. Am I doing it wrong or are my setting messed up on my end. All i see is the ftp address in the upper left of the window. Also how do you go about uploading photos or is it self explanatory if I get in.<br /><br />EDITED: I retried and this is the error I get. Windows cannot acess this folder. Make sure you typed the file name correctly and that you have permission to acess the folder. Details the operation timed out

you should be able to just go to:<br /><br />ftp://66.136.189.195<br /><br />if it does not ask for you to login, simply right click the screen, and select "login as".. then enter iboats as username and password<br /><br />you can then right click to make a directory.<br /><br />just drag and drop your pictures into the window and it will upload them.<br /><br />if you'd like to have an ftp program, download.com has several available cuteftp, and ftpx are 2 good ones. .. but for this, internet explorer will be just as good.<br /><br />---edit--- I had the ip wrong.. correct now
