Does anybody know how much horsepower you lose when you go to a full fresh water system with a water pump on the block?
Thanks

I was told that im going to lose enough to notice, if i go to this conversion due to water flow and adding another belt and pump for the engine to drive.

I couldn't imagine there would be enough to notice, maybe something could be detected on a dyno, but it's probably a small amount, and only noticeable at wide open throttle.

I think when your get your engine running hotter you will gain power.
Unit for my boat does not require another pump but then it is a half system.

your not going to notice you may lose 1/2 to 1 hp runing a water pump,

Fact: alternator requires more HP to run than a water pump

Experiment: temorarily remove alternator belt and see if you notice your boat goes faster. You won't.

CAUTION: don't run like this for long or your battery will go dead.
