I dont think there is any COVERTING... you might add some zinc anodes, or add more...

you would want to flush the motor more often after use.....

the water that runs through the motor to cool is would now be salt water...so if it sat in the motor for a long period you could leave salt deposits, and the salt would corrode all that it touches much faster than the fresh water would...but not in a year or two even if left unattended.

good luck

cheers for that. just not really clued up on inboards and im meant to be buying a ski boat but someone said you need to make sure its had some conversion so it can run in salt water, so i got a bit worried incase this was a major job. so is it just the same as an outboard really, just wash it out after use?

Invest in the proper anodes.

Invest in engine flush kit or 'muffs'. Flush after each use, ensuring engine reaches operating temp or you won't be flushing the engine, just the exhaust passages.

I agree. Last season I did quite a bit of salt water boating around Cape Lookout, NC. Beware the shoals! LOL
Flush her out at operating temp and you will be fine. I found a lovely hose hookup in my campground for RVs. Mooohahahaaa! Ran it on muffs for 30 minutes or so. It was just a little louder than those little generators on RVs. Just a little. :p

the someone you were talking to was probably bringing up a closed cooling system conversion where you have antifreeze running through your block and a heat exchanger.

just flush good.

You need one of these..........

Sizes:

2" to 8" diameter; 8" to 96" length

Pictue didn't post poo. Anyway you need a heat exchanger, will run cooling seawater over tubes filled with antifreeze cooling the engine, works well.
