Fried Impeller on 83 Merc 260hp

Think I toasted impeller on outdrive while trying to squeeze in winterizing the beast between cold spells (I know -- dumb). No water was making it in and shooting out exhaust ports during startup
Anyway would greatly appreciate help on the following: How tough is it to successfuly do replacement? Which part do I get...whole kit or just impeller?

Take it apart and see what is wrong. No reason to replace the housings if they aren't damaged.

Not sure how you tried to do your winterizing,but did the fried impeller keep you from properly storing the block and manifolds?

Ayuh,........

I'd be Worried about getting the Block,+ Manifolds Drained 1st,.......
Then worry about Fixing what you Broke......

If it Freezes before you get the Waterpump Fixed,....
That'll be the Least of your Problems........

I'll check the online manual...thnx Don.
Was only able to run for a short time till realized no water being drawn in. So, shut it off before able to fog engine. I did get to drain all hoses, manifolds, pwr steering, etc. so think I avoided freeze issues. Read Don's guide but not nearly as a diligent as should be. Will open it up weather permitting and replace impeller if able to.
