Will all this talk about getting the transducer in the right spot. I received this email today from Lowrance tech support for my Elite-4 DSI combo unit. Sunday I will go out and tester out. Currently mounted with top of the transducer even with the bottom of the hull. Only two holes in the transom and one above waterline covered with a SS-clamshell.

Thank you for your inquiry.

The lower you can mount the transducer the better. When you mount it low there will be less interference with cavitation. If you mount it high there will be a greater amount of cavitation. The only con to mounting it low is if it is to low when you hit something it could damage the transducer.

Thank you for choosing Navico products!

Re: From Lowrance RE: Transducer mounting

Well today was our test run and my Lowrance unit worked great under all conditions. Maintained bottom at all speeds have to practice seeing fish and using the GPS/charts.

Next is rebuild carb.

I wonder why they don't put that info in the installation instructions for their units. Would have saved me a lot of fussing installing mine.
