Hello ,

Quick question . I have an electric shift - 77 boat and it currently has a push / pull steering setup .

A guy has here locally has a tru course that will fit my boat for 30 bucks and it moves freely and looks to be in great shape , my question is. ....

Are all upper units / intermediates set up for Tru Course ? Can I simply just install this to the intermediate and it will work ? Or is there something internal that I would have to add to the upper to use the tru course ?

plugging the hole from the current steering is not a big deal , I am currently doing a little fiberglass work to her and adding a ski locker.

Thanks in advance

You probably have the gear on the front of the upper, but the worm wheel up in the top of the upper is probably missing. I think that's the difference (though I've had one upper without the steering gear on the front).

I remember when I had my outdrive apart , there was a gear up at the very top of the upper. Basically the gear went around the shaft for the oil dipstick, is that the one you are referring to ?
