When I first got on this forum it was because I was new to boating and decided to get a bigger boat to replace my canoe that I have been fishing out of for a while now. So I decided to get a used Aluminum 14ft Semi V I got for $500 with a 7.5 Mercury.

Some if you may remember I had some impeller problems and a bunch of other issues with the motor but once I got it all squared away it was good to go. Anyway first real trip on the boat was to Lake Margarita with my family and had an absolute blast with the wife and the kids loved being on the water fishing. It was hot but they loved it even though we only caught one fish.

Its been a little more than a month now and I was ready for an upgrade. Not having a ton of cash to buy a bigger boat I did however have the title to several toys in my garage. One being my precious Harley Davidson. I decided to trade my individual enjoyments for memories with the family that will last forever. It was by far the hardest decision I have ever had to make.

After checking the boat out on my lake, my wife and I decided to go through with the trade, pink slip for pink slip. The gentleman I was getting the boat from had kids that where all grown up now and his son had a Harley and he wanted to ride with him. So we both had our own reasons for the trade. He wasn't even selling his boat and had no intentions to sell. When I originally posted my Harley for sale I posted trades welcome, Superduty or bass boat. Thats when his son found me and showed his dad, look pops boat for bike.

Now that the deal is done we are back to the lake. First time I have ever put this big of a boat in the water by myself. I remembered most of the things I had just done with the guys but I still had help. My wife and I got the boat in the water and off to our favorite fishing spot. 15 minutes in I knew I made the right decision. I caught a 3 pound bass cool right! Wait, 2 minutes later my wife catches a beast of a bass and I looked at her and asked her and my kids, did we make the right decision? Without a doubt everyone smiled and said yeah daddy I love the boat!

Enjoy the pics from tin boat to bass boat, Im hooked and I love it.

Thanks the only reason why I went with that big of boat is because of the trade and I wanted something in same or close in value. I thought about the tracker pro team or pro 16 but after playing the number games with the sales people here in cali when its all said and done its $20 and $18 grand and I dint think it was worth it at all.

If you still have the tin boat try and keep it. I know storage may be an issue but your family has great memories in it and you can always say its the back up boat. When the kids get bigger you can hand it down. Just a thought.

Ill tell you in grew up i Florida where you can fish bass in any body of water and be successful. Out here in this private lake community it has been very challenging. Our fish are huge here, just last week a 19 pound catfish was caught and released. Last month they posted on the local market that someone caught a 50 pound catfish. I neve saw it but I did see a catfish in shallow water that easily was the size of a bull shark. It was HUGE!!!! Anyway... anytime anyone is traveling from L.A on the 15 north to Vegas and want to go fishing send me a pm and Ill take you out.
