Front Engine Mounts

I have a 1974 140 4 cylinder that required replacement of the wood that receives the lag bolts for the front engine mounts. The location of the holes was not identified prior to the work. I'm ready to re-install the engine. I understand the need to adjust and align for the up and down. Will it be adequate to bolt up the rear engine mounts to the inner transom plate, set the engine down with the front engine mount bolted to the engine and then drill through the front mount holes where they sit, or is there a need for more precision in the location of these holes?

Nope, you got it. install the motor ,tighten the rear mounts, check alignment, mark and drill pilot holes for lags.

Sounds like I am headed in the right direction. Just needed some confirmation, as these aren't holes I want to drill more than once.
