Front Motor Mounts

Mine are sitting on what looks like some kind of plywood blocks. That doesn't seem to be the best situation, as they don't so much as have any paint on them (anymore at least), and there is a bit of delamination happening to the top layer(s).

Does that sound like someone's rigged up deal?

Ayuh,..... Wooden shims are pretty common,.....

nearly every boat I have ever owned had wood shims with gel slapped on the edges. it is vary common for boats from the 70's, 80's, 90's, and early 00's

remember, boats were designed to last about 15 years. your 1988 is coming up on 32 years. the de-lamination would be normal, and most likely the least of the problems you will find.

Ok, I'm glad then that those are what's supposed to be there at least. I'll get some paint or sealer on them to try to stretch them a little further. I'm not going to disturb the engine position unless I have to.
