FUEL AND WATER

IT IS POSSIBLE THAT I HAVE GOT SOM WATERPEARLS IN THE CARB DUE TO AN OLD (AND ROTTEN) FUEL HOSE.<br />I HAVE BOUGHT A NEW HOSE NOW, BUT COULD IT BE RECOMMENDABLE TO HAVE SOME CONDENSE-REMOVER PRODUCT IN THE FUEL. DOES IT HARM OR IS IT HARMLESS?

yeser i would get a bottle of isoheet water remover it worked for me

Methanol will work too. Over here it is marketed as gasline antifreeze. You can also put an inline fuel/water filter. It has a bowl on it to let the water separate from the fuel and stay in the bowl.

I don't think you need any additives, in our countries it's already a fair amout of ethanol in the gas when you get it from the pump.<br />Does your engine have any sympthoms that you think might be related to water in the carb?<br />And welcome to another new Scandinavian

I had to be towed in from 15 miles offshore once with water in the gas. Ever since then I have considered a fuel/water separator a must on a boat with a built in tank. I'm not sure how the experts feel about this subject, would be interested in hearing from them.

If everyone followed GatorMike's advice and changed the filter once a year the "water in the fuel problem" would be like polio - - gone.

hello<br /> do not add snake oil to your fuel, especially in a two stroke. in a two stroke if it aint lubricating its killing. I have a sea cat at the shop now that had water in the tank. the man added 2 cans of snake oil and now the water/gas is an emulsion. we will pump 150 gallons of snake oiled gas today. no matter what I try the water droplets will not settle out of suspension now. until it gets to the VST then it will.<br /> anyway its way easier to just remove the sender, tilt the boat up and pump the water off the tank bottom. would have taken me an hour to do both tanks. now we chunk 150 gallons of fuel at about 2.25 per gallon ,plus the cost of the snake oil <br /> good luck and keep posting

Thank you for all your tips and different opinions. I forgot to mention that is an 30 hp Johnson 2000 model 2 stroke I am talking about.
