Re: Fuel Consumption

Sounds like your timing might be off. How long has it been since it had a tuneup. Isnt that like 11 gallons? Thats not bad for pounding it for 3 hours I dont think

Re: Fuel Consumption

That is a very common problem on the 3.0L engine.
To high an rpm at idle is a common cause of run-on, along with shutting down immediatly after a hard run. Allowing the engine to idle for a couple of minutes to cool down is necessary.
Running too lean on the fuel mixture or incorrect timing will also cause run-on and dieseling.
The biggest problem is when this is occuring, the engine is usually running backwards and sucks water into the engine.
You really need to find the cause and get it corrected before you destroy your engine.

Re: Fuel Consumption

Consumption part seems somewhat high. I use about 8-9 G in 3 hrs on an OMC 2.5l.

Re: Fuel Consumption

if you used 40 lt which is 10.5 gallons over 3 hours that is great fuel use at 3.5 gallons per hour

tommays
