Hi, I've been having issues with my 70 hp outboard. It started with a worn out fuel pump. Got a Sierra rebuild kit and installed. Ran great for a week and then started dying. I went back and reviewed my rebuild kit and another purchaser said the plastic holding pins for the diaphragms wouldn't stay in place and needed a drop of Super Glue. I took mine apart and a pin had come loose. I did the glue trick on both and it ran well for the rest of last season. Problem started again this year. Multiple times. Glue not holding. Merc doesn't have their own kit anymore. Just rebuilt it again and it started right up. Ran for 15 minutes and died. It did restart and kept running for 15 minutes until I turned off. I don't think the fuel filter fix is bad already. Even when running good my clear fuel filter gets maybe half full. It is kinda big, maybe 1-1/4" diameter. but was the only clear one I good find earlier this year. Can it be too big?? Can the routing of the fuel lines make it harder to fill the filter?? I've attached some pix. Any help appreciated.
