'72 Evinrude Model 2202 M -E04388, 2HP Mate
I would like to filter the fuel on this engine. The fuel tank is mounted to the Engine housing. There is a fuel shutoff valve at the bottom of the tank with a hose that goes directly to the Carb. There doesn't seem to be a filter in this system.

Any Ideas?

The fuel shut off valve that screws into the fuel tank should have a ceramic type fuel filter incorporated into the top portion of it.

If it isn't there, I would assume it has been broken off. The original OMC part number and the latest superceeded part number for the shut off valve follows which can be purchased through your local Evinrude or Johnson dealership for approximately $10.00. The last price I have on the valve is a 1999 price of $8.37.

Original # = 677052 - Latest # = 432079 (Either number would be okay).
