Changed the screw on fuel filter, and now cant get fuel to the filter or motor. Hoping someone can tell me a secret for priming the system. The easy way

You have to fill the filter with fuel before screwing it on. Otherwise you'll be pumping the primer bulb for a long time before ever getting fuel to the motor.

Re: Fuel filter/line priming

I've had luck with taking the outlet fuel line off the primer bulb, squeeze the bulb and cover the outlet with your finger to not allow any air back in through the outlet (yes I realize it shouldn't allow air back in the outlet but even a brand new bulb will). Do this a few times and I got fuel to the filter and it was easy from there. Given I have a 16' skiff with about a 12' run of fuel line, so if you're talking a larger boat/longer fuel line run this could be a pain and putting fuel in the filter first would be the necessary thing to do. Good luck!

Is your primer bulb installed with the arrow pointing up? If not, it needs to be.
