I'm getting a motor ready that sat for 6 years. I started it up with separate gas can w new fuel. I'm going to remove old gas from tank. Looking for fuel filter. Mercury parts site says there is one in the fuel pump and one in the carb. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks

If the parts list shows them there, then they're either there, or someone (stupidly) took them out and you should replace them. Either way, you have to open it all up.

This filter is in the bowl of the fuel pump. Remove retaining wire and loosen 10mm nut until stop and remove bracket clamp. Drop bowl, clean and replace filter, spring and gaskets. Place clamp back on and tighten 1 turn past snug. Dont forget to place a new piece of wire thru nut and bracket so it cant loosen.fuel filter 3.0L.jpgfuel pump 3.0l.jpg
