Fuel Filter

Will the fuel filter from a 85HP OMC interchange with the fuel filter on a 115HP Johnson 79 Model? The fuel filter from the 85HP has 3 nipples on it are the Carbs plumbed up individually on it? I know the ones on the 115 HP are plumbed up with a single line from the filter to a Y connector below the carbs. I have been having a prolem with the engine being hard to start and I am trying to replace the fuel filter and just want to make sure I plumb it up properly.<br />Thanks<br />Drt183Rcr

Hello Drt183Rcr..welcome to iboats! Ok just to call ya' DR??<br /><br />About the "fuel filter"...would you be talking about the black long tube with outlet nipples on it? Don't know of any fuel filters with more than two nipples...one in and one out and are white....'bout and inch in diameter....these are from OMC/Bomby.<br /><br />If it is just a long black tube, this is just a fuel outlet manifold. The third nipple goes to the primer solenoid on the 85horse.<br /><br />If you can, give a year or model number on the 85 horse and maybe add a little more info from what I've posted....if I'm out in left field....post that too.....

No Sir the item I am refering to isin't a long tube. It is an almost square device that bolts to the engine above where the fuel line connects to the engine from the remote fuel tank. There is one line coming in going to a nipple and this one is on a little piece that has a very fine screen under it with the words fuel filter on it. I.m not sure of the year of the 85 OMC but I beliveve it the be about an 80 or so. The 115 is a 79. Previously I had a lot of trouble with cold starts on the 115 and accidenly dropped the "Fuel Filter" or whatever it is in the river while working on the motor. LOL<br />Someone gave me tis part and I just want to make sure it will exchange or can be made to. Thanks DR

Drt183Rcr,I believe you are talking about the fuel pump,that has a screen type filter on it.A 3 hose pump will not interchange with the 2 hose pump.The screens will interchange.<br /><br />DHP
