Fuel flow gage for MPI engines

Hello all. I am new to the forum, and new to the power boating world (I grew up around sailboats in California). I've looked but can't figure out what to use for a fuel flow gage for Merc MPI engines. All of the fuel flow monitors seem to be for carbed engines. Seems like there should be something than can just read the MPI computer for flow. Thanks for your input.

Thanks tommays. That was what I needed. Don't know how I missed seeing that on their website.

FloScan and Navman systems will also work with the Mercruiser MPI engines. There is no return fuel going back to the tank, so there is no problem and the fuel sender only reads what is being used.

DonS,

Does the MPI use fuel at a constant rate so that the flow reading will be accurate? I beleive that some injection systems keep a fuel resevoire of some kind, which might give readings that spike, drop, spike, drop as it's refilled.

Thanks again for the help.

The meter will read properly when your throttle position/boat speed is stable. That's all you can expect from any flow meter. In any case, the only thing resembling a reservoir on your engine is the water separating filter.

The systems you speak of do not fill/refill. they have a reservoir that is kept at a specified level, but they don't empty and refill. To my knowledge, the only thing that does that on a boat is the head...

Check out the FloScan site, look at the manuals and click on the links and follow them at the top of their page.

FloScan

Thanks. Looking at the FloScan manuals they say MPI. I was going from the sales blurbs at the online stores, and they are just said Carburated engines, so I made the mistake of assuming. Now I feel dumb for not RTFMing :(
