2010 Starcraft 130 Etec 2010. Gauge reads full all week unless boat is flat in the water? Do I need a new gauge or is this normal? I know I am almost empty.

I've been around boats over 40 years. Never once seen a gauge that was anywhere close to being accurate, save for the stick my Dad used to dip in the tank of our old inboard.

Big shallow tanks don't lend themselves to good readings. Is your boat sitting nose up on the trailer so that all of the fuel is sloshed to the back of the tank where the sender is?

I've only owned 1 boat that had a remotely accurate gauge, which happens to be on one of my current boats. My other boat will stay at full until I'm down to about 1/4 of the tank, and then it drops like a rock. (ie, once that guage starts moving, find a gas station!) Out of probably a dozen previous boats, none were remotely accurate and all did some interesting things.

If you are up on plane, the float for the sender is probably facing the stern of the boat, which would show a full reading. If you have access to the sending unit, undo the screws, turn it 90 degrees and it will read more accurately. If not, its not a big deal. Just keep an eye where its at when flat so you know when you need to fuel up.

The only sender I've used that are even remotely accurate are the reed type sensors made by Wema and Moeller. No dancing fuel levels and when combined with a fuel monitoring system, you know exactly how much fuel you have used and how much fuel you have left in the tank.
