Fuel gauge and navigation switch problems

I had batteries stolen and they cut the wires next to the posts. Rewired and now the fuel gauge doesn't work. All other gauges work except lights on gauges. When I turn the navigation switch on for running lights the fuel gauge goes past the full mark. When I flip it down to mooring the fuel gauge drops to empty. This is on a tracker 175txw 2008

Sounds like you may have missed a ground wire back at the battery.

I have a ground attach? when this happens. When I remove it the gauge lights still don't work but the fuel gauge doesn't move.

There was probably more than one ground wire on your battery. May have only been a 10Ga wire, not actually a battery cable.
Look around the battery area and see if there is a cut wire.

Use the "search" feature to find troubleshooting information and diagrams for the fuel gauge as well as the NAV/ANC switch wiring. This has been covered very often. Instrument wiring is also covered in the "stickies" at the very top of this forum (not the top of this page).

Re: Fuel gauge and navigation switch problems

Thanks for the help. Turned out that the ground wire was attached to the trolling motor battery instead of the cranking battery. They ran the wire when they installed the wire through the trolling motor wires. Who would've guessed!!!
