fuel gauge compatibility

My 12V fuel transmitter is broken. My indicator is a "volvo penta" and have been told it's in reality a VDO.<br />What kind of transmitter can be installed, there are many different products available ?<br />Nothing is indicated on my broken transmitter.<br />I have found a 12V TELEFLEX transmitter, compatible ?<br /><br /> Thanks for any help...

Hi Serge,<br />The resistance on a VDO fuel "sender" is 10 ohms at "E" and 180 at "F". This means that your gauge is set up to read a sender with 10-180 ohms.<br />Stewart Warner standard senders are 240-33 ohm, these will cause your fuel gauge to run backwards.<br />You need to put a "VDO compatible (10-180)" sender in your tank to drive the gauge correctly, unless you plan on replacing the gauge also.
