fuel gauge gound wire?

I have recently replaced the stringers and I'm starting to replace the decking. However, I think that I might need to try to start the engine before I cover up the fuel tank. With that said, I was hooking the wiring to the fuel gauge but encountered a little snag. The screw that was designed to hold the ground wire is stripped and will no longer hold the ground wire. So instead I decided to use one of the screws that holds the gauge to the aluminum tank. I was wanting to know that since this screw goes all the way through into the tank, if it would cause a possible explosion.

No, I wouldn't think so.

But I might add a idea for the ground lug screw problem. Try getting a male spade electrical connector and drill a 1/8" hole in the base. drill the screw hole to 1/8" and use a 1/8" rivet to fasten the spade connector to the original spot, and run the female spade connector on your ground wire, and Oila!, you are connected. Well, just a thought......but it might work, the rivet expands in the hole and it should cause a good ground connection.
