My fuel guage is innaccurate... when the tank is full it reads about 3/4.. best I can tell it's just off by a 1/4 tank, but haven't pushed the low end to find out...

I pulled the sender and manually positined it at the upper limit (metal tab) and it still only read 3/4 full. How do I tell if its a bad sender, bad guage, or bad wire?

I know I saw a thread on this before, but i've been searching for over an hour now and can't find it..

First of all clean all your connections with sandpaper,at the sender and the guage. The ground must be clean as well.
I would bet the sender would be the problem..if all the connections are good.

Disconnect the wire from the sender and touch it to a good ground (key on engine off). If the guage now reads full, the sender is the problem.

You can probably get a new sender through NAPA auto parts. You will need the tank dimensions, or take it with you.8)
