fuel gauge not working properly

I boat this boat last year,and still trying to ajust fuel gauge needle to show correct reading.my boat takes about 380 litres of fuel,so I put in it 200 litres,which is more than half,and bend it the floater arm until it showed just little bit more than half a tank.after 2 weeks it got to quarter mark and froze there.what is the best way to ajust the needle.as far as I know,the gauge was working fine,until I started playing with it

Typically, you adjust the float arm to read correctly at empty.

You may need to replace the sending unit - easy to do.
