I bought a 1988 Celebrity 180v boat yesterday and the fuel gauge is reading full but the tank only has maybe 1/4.Someone had temp installed another gauge that read 1/4 tank low according to the previous owner. Is the gauge bad or the sending unit?I check the wiring and everything is correct. The celebrity does not use the standard round gauges, they use square ones built into the gauge panel and I have not been able to locate a replacement gauge.

Re: Fuel gauge problem

Ayuh,... Remove the gauge wire from the sending unit,.. The gauge should read Empty,..
Ground out the wire, the gauge should read Full...

That'll tell you if it's the gauge, or sender...
