Fuel Gauge sending Unit

Hello. Have a 87 Searay Seville with a 20 gallon belly tank...my fuel gauge reads empty..I tested the gauge by shorting sending unit tab to ground tab on gauge (read full)..I know I have a full tank cause I filled it last summer with sta-bil included..I ohmed grouds from gauge to tank and sending unit ...(good)...I then ohmed sending unit sending tab to ground tab..read around 130 ohms..so I should be reading something on gauge???...I DID NOT test sending unit wire (pink) to gauge for continunity...Could this be my problem or do I need another sending unit? (It is only a couple of years old)...Thanks,Pete44

Take the pink sending unit wire at the tank end and short it to ground and the guage should go to full proving the wire is OK. Here is a link to a page that may help you as well. Fuel Guage Help

My fuel guage reads correctly when the tank is above 3/4 but below 3/4 it become eratic and bounces from 3/4 to empty. Is this most likely the sending unit? The boat is 20 years old. Thanks! Rich
