Hi all and thanks again for a great board! My 72 Crestliner 17' v-hull came with an integral bow mounted fuel tank (still had the filler and vent fittings) but sometime in the last 30 years someone removed it; likely due to contamination/corrosion. It was fitted with two 6-gallon plastic tanks when I bought it last fall. Through this board I found a fine gentleman (Val V) who sold me a new 18 gallon plastic tank which fits nicely in the bow and had fuel level sender, mounting brackets, etc--all ready to go, and at a very nice price as well. (I think he has more of them if you are interested.) It is now mounted; filler, vent and supply lines are hooked up and I'm ready to try it out. I found a (used) fuel gage but trying to hook it up without instructions is frustrating. Taking just the gauge, I hooked purple to positive, black to negative, the remaining two (if I guess right) should go two the two wires on the fuel gauge sender, which should be a variable resistor (once again, guessing). Anyway, with these two wires open, gauge reads empty; with them connected directly to one another (not to the fuel tank sender wires), it reads 3/4, not full. At this point the fuel sender isn't even in the circuit, so I suspect the gauge. Sound right?
