Fuel Guage Issue

Hi Guys,

As soon as I post this, I am going back to searching the web for an answer, but in the mean time, here goes....

I am in the process of restoring an old fishing boat. I have inherited this vessel, and didn't do any of the work prior to my owning it. I have wired the fuel guage as best as I can figure, going by what info I have found on the web.

When the tank was bone dry, I had a reading of "E" on the guage. I dumped in about 7 gals. into the 61 gal. tank. Now I have a reading well below "E".

My question is, is it possible to have reversed polarity in some way, and now my guage is reading negative? Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Kenny

Yes. The sender has an arm on which the float is attached. The float arm needs to be turned such that it swings from the other side. You can switch polarity at every connection and cannot change the outcome. You need to fix the sender.

WOW! I never would have thought of that. That would have drove me nuts!
