Fuel Hose opinions

I am rebuilding /restoring an 88 Sea Ray 300 w/ twin 5.7L MIE Mercs/ Borg Warner drives.
While I'm in there replacing the obvious, I am wondering if I should go ahead and replace all the original fuel hoses. They are all made with crimped flared fittings. The all look good on the outside, no rot or cracks anywhere but with alcohol on the horizon am not sure if the factory hoses can handle.
If I was to replace, should I try to have a local shop reinstall the crimped ends or would you simply go with the barb clamp option.
Your opinions?

Since you're refurbishing everything else, why not get your fuel lines up to that same level. My recommendation is to replace the hoses with hoses rated for ethanol alcohol and marine certified. Some automotive hose is marine certified, as well, and some isn't. Check the printing on the hose before you buy. Using barbed ends on the fittings is fine. That way, you'll have one less thing (and a very important one, at that) to worry about. Hy

Yep - regardless of the alcohol content - those hoses are 23 - going on 24 years old. Time for new ones. Just go to your local marine supply house and buy the type A-1 fuel hose in bulk. Then replace whatever fittings you need with the appropriate barb fittings. You will be good for the next decade or so. :)

Re: Fuel Hose opinions

I already have a roll of Marine Grade fuel hose. Just wanted to get some opinions before I started removing.
