Just bought 1994 SeaRay 220 w/5.7. Engine runs great. Just had mechanical inspection and they pointed out some dry cracking to the fuel fill hose. No leaking coming from the hose, just some dry cracking to the outer coating on the hose. How critical is this to replace. They quoted like $600 to replace this hose. Is this something that I can just keep an eye on, is it something that is common or should I get this replaced before I even use the boat.

Well, I am considering it. I have had 3 back surgeries and while I am getting close to a full recovery, I am trying to watch what I do. It looks like it runs under the floor but I am sure I could take some stuff apart and gain access.

For 600 bucks, I'd be enlisting in a helper if I had too
Thats way to much IMO

Not good....a hose is actually composed of two parts.

The inner liner which is in contact with the liquid and a heavy, rubber coating on the outside to protect the liner from physical damage.

By the time the outer covering get in this condition, the liner has already been compromised. Failure is not far away

BTW: if that is the fill hose, $600 isn't bad to replace.
Your looking at close to $20 a foot for A2 hose. Took me the better part of a day to replace the one in my boat.

Yea, they told me that it was a pretty big project and the hose was pretty expensive. That is what I was wondering is if it could get me through the season. I will probably just go ahead and bite the bullet and get one.
