Re: fuel hose

Good morning cls! You should be able to look on the side of the hose for the size, 3/8, 5/8, etc.. Or you could remove a small piece and take it to the parts house and let them size it up with one of the connectors. Either way, it is a GREAT idea to replace it, especially since it is 37 years old!!!! As far as marine grade fuel lines.... I would leave it up to one of the experts here in the forums. I'm sure they will chime in anytime and give you the answer you are looking for. Best of luck to you!

Re: fuel hose

Take a sample section of your old hose to the boat dealer and buy sufficient length of "Marine Fuel Hose"....not a good idea to use the "Automotive Fuel Hose" like from Autozone, Advanced Auto, etc. The "Marine" hose will cost you a good bit more, but worth it in performance and durability. Probably a good time to replace all the hose clamps also. I'd say after 37 years you really got your money's worth out of those old hoses!;)

Marine hose is more fire resistant than auto hose for one thing. You should use Coast Guard approved marine fuel hose. I'll bet that it is 3/8".

Re: fuel hose

it seems to me that an I/O had a particular type of fuel line. I think it was marine fuel line type A. However, it is best if you verify that ...

Re: fuel hose

I would think Gates green stripe fuel hose is good enough.

What is the diff between this auto fuel hose and Marine grade hose ?

Works for fuel injection on cars and high pressure right ? much more rated then simple carb fuel lines.

Just wondering out loud..

I don't know what the differences are, but based on all I've heard and read, I'd stick with the "Marine" specified....Maybe it's something to do with the damp marine environment, UV exposure, marine fuel additives?....Maybe there's an expert here who knows?

Okies I get it now.

Gates does have Marine grade hose. Both types in fact.

I guess the shielding inside the hose is different.
