Fuel Injection

Hello, I currently looking for a project boat with a V6 or V8. Has anyone ever used an after market fuel injection set up for a car in a marine application. My plan is to find a 18'-20' bow rider with a good hull and trailer and alpha one out drive. I am planing to install a new long block. Just considering this to increase fuel efficiency.

There have been attempts made but I have not heard of a successful outcome. Not saying it has not happed but just have not heard of one. Auto fuel injected engines use more sensors then marine to adjust fuel. The dreaded oxygen sensor, and auto computers used to adjust timing.

The Holley EFI unit is adaptable (it learns) self contained and approved for marine use. It sits on a stock or aluminum manifold and is available for both V6 & V8 applications. Plug and play, car or boat, it does not know, nor does it care. Summit Racing has them.

Ayuh,.... If ya run it 100 years, it might pay for itself, over a well tuned carb,....

True !

On big issue with EFI is that the Coast Guard does not like high pressure fuel lines. You basically need to keep your mechanical pump and then design and build a small tank with a needle seat and float near the engine. The high pressure pump is inside this small tank. Lines from there to the injectors must be stainless steel.
