i bought this boat while it had been sitting for 5 or 6 years but ran fine when it was parked. it was my fathers boat. i had the motor checked out; carbs cleaned, oiler and water pump checked and new plugs. the carbs had a lot of build up and jelly in the carbs. i took it to run it and it would crank and idle perfect bt when put in gear it would accelerate to about 1/4 throttle and then bog down. took it back to the same guy and he did a compression test and it had 120 on each cyl. he claims to have been through the carbs 2 or 3 times and said the only way to get it to run is to cover the middle carb. anyway he said that the motor was worn out or the cylinder was all scarred up and was going to charge me $800 just to check into it. so i decided to get a second opinion. the next mechanic said that the descrition i gave him sounded like the carburators were still dirty. so he cleaned them again and said they were dirtier than he thought they should have been after being cleaned by the first mechanic. he ran it and told me that it would take off and run good right out of the hole but as he trimmed up to level out it began to cut out as if the rev-limiter was kicking in. he also told me that the condition of my prop could be contributing to that. it had a bent ear. ok this weekend we went fishing and was expecting the boat to run at least as good as the second mechanic said it did untill i could get the prop worked. as soon as i cranked it, it idled fine and started down the river. it seemed to run pretty strong. it ran for about 100yds and bogged all the way down and died out. it would crank back but would not idle high enough to stay running and put it in gear. i took the fuel line loose from the fuel filter and squeezed the bubble and it seemed that there was no obstructions in the fuel tank pick-up, bubble or line. my last hope i can think of is that maybe there is still some build up and jelly in the fuel filter, fuel pump, or in the lines after the filter. since the carbs are "clean" and the fuel flows freely to the filter i thinks thats all it can be. i'm pretty sure it is a fuel issue. because when it runs, it runs strong. i think the motor is fine. but any advice available would be greatly appreciated. if i cannot figure this out soon i will take it to the suzuki dealer and have certified techs work on it. please and info would be great.
