Fuel left in air silencer

My recently aquired 1987 88hp runs well, but is it normal for for a small amount of fuel (an ounce or two) to be left in the air silencer after a trip to the lake? I have ran engine at idle with the silencer removed and had no noticable "spit" from carbs to indicate damaged reed valves. Is it possible to have this happen at high speeds but not at idle? Thanks in advance guys.

Yep,itz normal Mark. If you watched the carbs at high speed, you can actually see fuel out in front of the carbs. Some silencers have a fitting and tube that bleed that little bit of fuel away.

c/6
Hooty
