My fuel line fitting(fuel line from gas tank) to a Yamaha 40 fits loosely at the engine connection. You can wiggle it. You hear it click when you connect but you get the feeling it isn't connect the best it could be. Not a snug feeling to it. Can air get in there? How would I know air is getting in? Maybe hose fitting wearing out?
I have the old grey type hose

Re: Fuel line fittings

If your motor is running fine and no obvious leaks, then the fitting must be good. You can buy the fittings at Walmart for a few dollars and replace what you have if it might make you feel better. Some folks eliminate that quick-disconnect fitting entirely with a straight piece of fuel hose to eliminate it as a possible leak source. My motor still has that quick-disconnect fitting but I really never have an occasion to use it, just leave it alone. Good Luck!

If fuel leaks out when you pump up the primer bulb it will also be able to suck air in. There are o rings inside those fittings you maybe able to replace, but probably easier to just replace the fittings
