Fuel line routing through splashwell

Picked up a 2001 Yamaha 8HP 4 stroke kicker yesterday and am wanting to route gas line through my Starcrafts splashwell and tie it into my water separator bracket directly below. Meaning I'll be running kicker off of main tank.

Does anyone know exactly the type of fitting I need mounted on the splashwell with fittings on both sides to clamp fuel lines to? Or should I just put in a 1" hole with rubber grommet to run fuel line through and bypass the splashwell mounted fitting?

Thanks

Just went through a similar problem. If it is 5/16 hose there are no "bulkhead" fittings available, only 1/4" and 3/8". The grommet solution works, the less connections, the less chance of leaks.

if your going to run both engines from the same filter head you will need a shut off valve at least on the kicker line or you may find out what a lean burn is on the main engine.

rodbolt,
Yes I have looked at many posts on here about whether to valve or not. LOL

So your suggesting to use a 2-way brass rated fuel valve in my new fuel line between the water separator filter and the kicker? That way when using the main engine flow towards kicker is nipped at the valve?

But I would only need a 2-way valve correct? And not a 3-way?

Thanks for the help

My thoughts are the main motor fuel pumps might suck air from the kicker and vice versa if you do not put shut off valves in

hey 99...I forgot to tell ya the gas line to the main motor has a oil autoblend unit by mercury between the water separator and the main.....so any chance of air sucking back into main engine with autoblend unit there?

If so then should I get a 2-way valve mounted inline between the water separator and the kicker?

Thanks

Re: Fuel line routing through splashwell

I was just saying that the fuel pumps on both motors, at different time or when each is running, will be pulling suction on the line to the separator. So, any connection could allow air leak if not tight and I am not sure if while pulling on the line it will suck the fuel out of the other motor and suck air from the other motors system when it goes dry.
I have never seen a oil auto blend unit by mercury, so do not know how that would effect the system.
Installing a valve or set of valves to allow you to open only the one to the motor you are running at the time maybe a good idea.

But this is only my opinion
