Doing a little planning for a future project.

My boat is 30 years old and has the original copperfuel lines going from the tanks to the fuel pump. The tanks are under the back/back seats (18gal each). The line from the one on the pass side routes to the dash via the gunwale, across the boat and y's in with the tank on the drivers side at a manual valve then the output from the valve continues on to the engine compartment where it is connected to the fule pump with a short rubber hose, but I'm not sure how the hose connects to the copper.

Should I consider replacement of the copper? It seems to be in excellent shape.

I'm also considering adding an electric fuel selector like you would find on a '70's carbed truck with dual tanks (Like this: Solenoid , you need to enter your zip to see it . This would NOT be in the engine compartment. could this be done safely? The manual valve is a pain. Also, those switches have hose barbs. If keeping the copper, what would be the safe way to connect them?

Re: Fuel Line

A fuel component has to meet Coast Guard specs to be legal in a gasoline powered boat.

The item has to pass a direct flame test and also a spark test for CG approval.

The picture of the solenoid shows the fuel nipples to be "plastic", if so, it would not meet the fire test.

Contact the manufacturer and ask if they have a marine version that is approved. Of course it will be more money, we all know that!!!!

Good link Ziggy.

Point taken Seahorse. I've just started looking and a marine version is on my list, I'm just not sure if such a beast exists?
