Hello To All,
I thought I would share some info that just may help someone out there..
I own a 98 merc 150 outboard V-6, S# 0G740674.
Long story short..
I had an issue that I knew was fuel related,
I rebuilt the carbs a few times, Rebuilt fuel pumps, Changed fuel filters, Fuel water separators. Primer bulbs
Went through the entire fuel system to no avail.. Just could not find my issue.. Just when I was gonna start going through the ignition
I figured let me check all the little bleed lines, The real small ones.. Well when I was done checking them and making sure they were all connected
I looked down at my hands and they were all black, I thought to myself, Where the hell did this come from??
Well it turns out it all rubbed off the bleed lines to my hands..I thought, That cant be good.. Then I rubbed my hand over the fuel lines, and the same ****..
So I decided to change all the bleed lines and fuel lines and walla, Problem solved..
Turns out the problem was the fuel lines and bleed lines, I did the carbs several times, But never thought bout the fuel lines, as they looked great.. They must have been breaking up inside and clogging the jets in the carbs , Even right after carb rebuilds....
If you are battling a fuel issue and just can't track it down, Don't over look the fuel lines along with bleed lines... I would never have thought they were bad at all bye just looking at them..If I did not realize the black on my hands I would still be trying to find this issue...
Thanks,
Ant..
