What should the correct fuel mixture be?

I am almost positive the guy at the boat store said to put in 16 ounces of oil which would make it 50:1. I did this the first time i filled it and it ran fine though. This weekend will only be the second tank of gas ive used

I have a six gallon tank.

50:1 is correct.

16 ounces for 6 US gallons is close enough..

(128 oz X 6) / 50 = 15.36
