I am new to this site, and am dealing with my first motor. I have a 1970 sea king 7hp. From reading other members messages it sounds like i should be running a 16:1 racio. If my math is right is that 8oz. of oil to every gallon of gas? I would also like to no if anyone has any opion about sea king motors and if their is anything i should look out for. Thanks for any help.

Re: fuel mixture

With a 1970 Motor, I believe the ratio should be 50:1, but would be happy on 40:1. Other will confirm...

Read this also:

web page

Re: fuel mixture

32:1 for your air-cooled outboard, or 16 oz per gallon. Use regular (chain saw) two-stroke oil rather than TCW-3 outboard two-stroke oil, since TCW is made for watercooled engines.

The 7hp Sea King was made by Clinton Engine Corp. which has long been out of business, so parts are a little hard to come by. Fortunetly, theres still many around. Clinton also made engines for a few other retailers.

Good luck!

Re: fuel mixture

Look on the clamp or mounting bracket of your ENGINE!I found the oil mix Racio there on my 5Hp sea king.
Don't put oil or gas in a MOTOR! It will only short out and smoke,(mabey catch fire, jump up and down on the work bench,do some other things ) Ya know what I'm gonna try it and post you back with the results, kinda sounds like FUN!!

DUDE: Not a pretty sight, the fire dep' just left about a 1/2hr ago, this is something you want to try out in the middle of a parking lot, with just a little 1/2Hp motor, not the two Hp motor off of a old A/C unit,I only wish I had the lights off before they blew out,I bet it would look pretty cool in the dark,Any way, kids don't try this at home,

Howdy, Sea King.

16:1 should be okay for your engine. 8oz. chainsaw oil per gallon.

Paul's suggested mix of 32:1 would be 4oz. oil per gallon, not 16 oz.

Good luck. :)

Re: fuel mixture

Thanks to everyone who replyed, it seems I have a pretty wide range of fuel mix racio. I think i will try 16:1 at first and then try to lighten up on the oil. Thanks again.

Holy moly JB! Not only did I get the ratio wrong, I don't even have my math right. And this metric-talkin Canuck even knew there's 128oz per US gallon!

Re: fuel mixture

I have a brand new 1970 wards mont 7hp. never-used until I got my hands on it.

The manual for a Clinton k-700 says use 3 ounces oil per gallon of gasoline.
Also says use regular gasoline, Im using un-leaded and it's running fine. Is this the correct oil mixture?

Thanks in Advance!

Re: fuel mixture

Hereafter, please start a new thread for your question. You've tacked your question onto a thread from 2004.

I'll answer, though. Follow the fuel:eek:il ratio on the label on your engine. That's always the best guide, except for certain OMC outboards which recommended 100:1. That's not pertinent in your case. Mix your oil as suggested on the label.

Again, please start a new thread if you have additional questions.

Re: fuel mixture

48:1 use TCW3 rated oil or any good 2 stroke outboard oil as recomended
by all aircooled 2 stroke outboards. and most TCW3 rated products.
There are certain specific high performance 2 strokes, rotax comes to mind ,
that use specific High performance 2 stroke oils.Unleaded 87 octane regular is fine for your outboard.
