Fuel Mixture??

Just bought a 1989 Johnson 25hp outboard.On the engine is says to use a 100-1 mixture I have been using a 50-1 mixture and it runs rough.It seems to starve for gas at low speed and high.the fuel pump seems to pump well and the bulb stays pumped up any suggestions??? put in new plugs.

Sounds like the carb is due for a tear down and a good cleaning. What oil and ratio? What plugs? What octane?<br /><br />Good luck!
