Re: fuel oil ratio

I'm alittle confused here, Wouldn't 16oz of oil too 6gal of gas be closer to a 24:1 ratio?

Shouldn't it be more like 8oz of oil too 6 gal of gas. That would make it 48:1 ratio, am I missing something?

Re: fuel oil ratio

Check the math, 20/20.

There are 2 pints per quart, 4 quarts per gallon, 48 pints in 6 (US) gallons.

There are 16oz. in one pint, 768 oz/gallon.

8oz (half pint) in 6 gallons would be 96:1.

Were you thinking a pint is 8oz.?

Thanks JB Thats what I did{bad math} For some reason I was thinking of a gallon only being 64oz. Boy do I feel the fool. Thanks again, I figured I was doing something wrong. Usually its the stupid mistakes that make the big problem.

Or, if you're transporting gas to the boat in 5 gal. cans, it's 13 oz / 5 gal ;)

Or buy your gas in 12 gallon increments and you can just buy a quart of oil for every 12 gallons and pour it in before the gas. No measuring!
